The promotion of women’s health is a critical step for Uganda to achieve equality and develop resilience within communities. Women face many barriers to receiving high quality health care, reproductive services, and information about both of the above, so they are deprived of their quality of life, which prevents them from participating fully in socio-economic activities. This initiative responds to these access barriers by providing women with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to make healthy choices.
The focus of the Action Points Initiative is to expand maternal and reproductive health services, strengthen community-based health outreach, and promote the use of preventative health care. Some of the ways we do this through the Action Point Initiative are through mobile clinics, health education campaigns, and training community health workers to deliver available resources to women. We also educate women about nutrition, mental health, and create safe spaces for adolescent girls, so women can make informed healthcare decisions without fear of being judged.
The ultimate goal of this initiative is to create healthier women and lower the incidence of maternal death and provide stronger families. If the women of Uganda are given access to good health care and are empowered to make healthy lifestyle choices, they will help build strong and resilient communities that will foster equity and drive sustainable development in Uganda
