Breaking Barriers: Educating Underprivileged Women in the Rwenzori Region

In the remote villages of the Rwenzori Mountains, education has long been a distant dream for many women. Limited resources, cultural norms, and financial hardships have prevented countless women from accessing the skills they need to build a better future. However, Women Action Point Initiative (WAPI) is changing that narrative.

Through vocational training and literacy programs, WAPI is equipping women—both young and adult—with practical skills to secure financial independence. From tailoring and farming to business management and digital literacy, these women are gaining the knowledge necessary to transform their lives.

“I never thought I would learn how to read or start my own business,” shares Masika Grace, a program participant. “But now, I am confident in my skills and can support my family.”

With every lesson learned and skill mastered, these women are not just breaking barriers—they are shaping a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
